What to expect on your wedding day

Too often we hear people say the photographer at their friend's wedding was bossy or arrogant.

You won't hear that about Thoms Photography.

Our clients rave about the great service they get throughout their wedding day. We aim to be efficient and professional while still allowing you time to enjoy your day. We know the importance of the receiving line following your ceremony and we respect that you need time to greet your guests.

When the crowd starts to scatter, we like to begin the family portraits, followed by the bridal party shots. These can be chaotic as people are socializing and not focused on the photography. Therefore, we ask that you invite as few people as possible for the formal shots.

We do have some patience for guests "stealing" our shots by standing behind us, but we do not appreciate when they hold things up by saying, "could you hold that pose?"

When the group shots are finished, we ask that the bride and groom leave all guests for a private portrait session. This usually goes fairly quickly when there are no observers. We have a variety of couple poses that we will go through. Many couples tell us this was a nice part of their wedding day. We encourage them to be real, as if we're not even there. Sometimes the quiet conversations or stolen moments make for the best shots.

If you have any specific poses you would like, please ask. We don't mind if you email a picture or two that you saw online. We want to capture your wedding the way you would like. You have specific ideas of what you want in a photographer. While we do have our own style, we can certainly accommodate special requests.
